The 2014 Winter Meetings have come and gone. Now it’s time to look at the winners and losers from them.
Chicago Cubs– The Cubs hit a home run at the meetings signing Jon Lester to a six year, $155M deal. Chicago finally got the ace they’ve been looking for. They also were able to sign back Jason Hammel whom they traded to the Oakland Athletics last year at the trade deadline. The Cubs now have a number one and two in their rotation that have established themselves as good pitchers. Miguel Montero was a good addition as well they get a veteran catcher to handle their rotation which could be one of the best in the National League. They do have to add a outfielder but the Cubs could go from last to first this season and contend for the NL pennant.
