Mariners trade Saunders to Blue Jays for Happ

The Toronto Blue Jays have filled their void in left field by acquiring Michael Saunders from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for left-handed pitcher J.A. Happ, the team announced Wednesday.

Saunders is now able to take over for Melky Cabrera who is looking to sign with a different team as a free agent. Happ allows a rotation spot for prospect Aaron Sanchez to take on a starting role for the Blue Jays. He spent the second half of the season in the bullpen. Sanchez put up a 1.09 ERA along with a 0.70 WHIP over 33 relief appearances in 2014.
