With Friday’s game postponed due to rain and Saturday’s doubleheader against the Orioles this past weekend, the Red Sox will be in need of a spot starter during the week. As a result, the Red Sox are expected to call up Rubby De La Rosa from Triple-A Pawtucket to start on Wednesday against the White Sox, ESPN Boston’s Gordon Edes writes.

De La Rosa threw 21 pitches in one inning in a start for Pawtucket on Sunday before being pulled, so he would be fine to pitch several days later.

The 25-year-old De La Rosa has made five starts at the big league level for the Red Sox this season. Over 32 1/3 innings spanning five starts, he has a 2.51 ERA) and a 30/8 K/BB ratio. He has a 3.51 ERA with a 56/24 K/BB ratio in 59 innings spanning 11 starts for Pawtucket.
