Matt Treanor announces his retirement

HardballTalk

The Indians announced this evening that catcher Matt Treanor has announced his retirement from baseball.

Treanor was out of professional ball last year, but he signed a minor league deal with Cleveland over the winter. The 38-year-old had been in extended spring training after suffering a hamstring injury during Cactus League play.

Treanor will walk away from the game with a .221/.313/.305 batting line over nine seasons between the Marlins, Rangers, Royals, Dodgers, and Tigers. He appeared in the World Series with Texas in 2010.
